You Capture-Nature

Beth over at I Should Be Folding Laundry offers a weekly photo challenge called You Capture. Each week she suggests a photography "assignment" for photographers to post on their blogs.

I love looking at all of the entries each week, as I love to look at photography, but I've never entered because I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to taking pictures. I also just have a plain old digital camera, and not a fancy one like a lot of the other bloggers do.

Last week the assignment was NATURE. And I just happened to have a flower bed of beautiful flowers in my front yard that I wanted to capture and remember. So I thought, what the heck? I'll give it a try. Here are my results:

This one is straight out of camera, as Beth would say, with no editing. Here is the same photo after I tried fiddling with it on Picnik, a photo editing site. Let me remind you that I have NO IDEA what I am doing!

Here are a few more of my favorites, which are also just out of my camera, and which I didn't do any changes to editing wise.

I am pleased with the results, although they are not as nice as the AWESOME pictures Beth takes, and which I have paid for and now proudly display in my living room. I may even blow one up and hang it somewhere. Thanks for encouraging me to take a step outside my comfort zone Beth!!

I think we could all use to step out of our comfort zone from time to time! Those are some great pics. I encourage you to get them blown up and hang them on you wall. It makes me so happy to see pics I've taken hanging around my house!

This is my first You Capture week as well! I loved that you worked with editing software you hadn't used before. How did you like Picnik? I've never used it before. Oh, and I bet your yard is just beautiful and happy!!!

don't talk yourself down - your photos are great! especially those lily shots - so beautiful! i like the one you edited also. a free program online that i use a lot is Picasa 3. it's a download. beth did a tutorial on it a couple weeks ago. i haven't tried picnik yet, but i will definitely check it out now :O)

i have my nature shots posted now also. if you want to come over and visit for awhile, please feel free to do so. there is always room for you in The Shadow of The Cross.

Congrats on entering, I lurked for a while too and joining in just adds a new layer to the fun :) I also felt like you do when I first joined in. I guess technically I still do feel that way but I am used to it now so I don;t feel quite so fretful every week ;) Anyway, great flowers - you are doing great! I love the one of (what I think are) yellow roses!!

You did a spectacular job, Christy!! Really! They are lovely and I'm so jealous that you have all that beauty right in your yard! All I have is crazy thistles that are 4 feet tall and poke-y!

Keep up the good work :)
